COVID-19: State Department Halts US Visa Services

As of March 19, the US State Department has suspended routine visa and consular services worldwide due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Key takeaways from the recent announcement are:

  • Only "urgent and emergency" requests will be processed. If believe you would qualify for an emergency appointment, directly contact the US consulate or embassy.

  • ESTA (visa waiver program) is not affected by this announcement

  • US visa applicants should expect long-term suspension of consular services. The majority of consulates worldwide will cancel all visa appointment scheduled after March 18
