Registration for the 2021 Diversity Immigrant Visa Program - also known as the green card lottery - will be closing on November 5 at 12 PM EST.
The visa lottery program awards 50,000 green cards to applicants from countries that typically have low immigration rates to the United States. Winners will be announced on May 5, 2020.
To qualify, applicants must be born in a qualifying country and meet certain educational and work requirements. This year, applicants from the following countries are not eligible to apply: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, UK and Vietnam.
